To my Kathy, our Kappi, My Staff Plucking up the pluck to write something so here goes. Our Kath beautiful inside and out. A 5 pound charity shop outfit to be made to look a million dollars with your smile on your face and your heart on your sleeve. A cup of tea with your Nan over champagne and glitz any day. Me and the boys are so so proud of everything achieved, went through, fought. And thank you for the beautiful life and joy you brought to us all. My finger tips will always hold on to the cracks in our foundations. Because that was our story. Sadly cut short. I’d like to use this page to carry on the message that Kathy always relayed. If you have anything unusual, new, not seen before on your body get it checked. Check your bits. Check your partners bits. Encourage a trip to the doctors. Kath has saved lives with this message. And if we can do that on here and raise a bit of money for charity. Then this would be Kathy’s happy place. We love you sweetheart. All your boys. Smith, Luen, Huey, Smudge, Jeff, Charlie. 143 x

Dear Kathy, We were three years old when we first met. I remember you distinctively performing as a star with me in the Nativity. With your beautiful smile and red hair you always stood out from the crowd. This continued right through to primary school where you quickly became of my best friends. Over the years there was tap dancing at Joyce’s, songwriting, a shared love of Saved by the Bell and Michael Jackson that kept us together. Your energy, loud laugh and mischievous personality never ceased to not make me smile. I know many times we were told off by a teacher for laughing! I loved being your friend. Our mums were friends, we both had little brothers who were friends, indeed we had a lot in common. The dance shows, singing in the living room, hanging out on Burford playing fields, horror film nights and after school teas still stay in my memories forever. We even performed a school concert thanks to Miss Tracey’s interference. We then grew up to senior school, where again I don’t think learned much in Maths due to my preference to talk to you. Mrs English certainly didn’t like us! When the time came for me to leave Grear Barr and go to Aldridge you signed my autograph book with a cute little message. I still have it to this day. In our late teens and early twenties we spent many a night enjoying karaoke and having a good time. When I hear “Papa don’t Preach”it reminds me of your Kelly Osbourne era, as you was definitely a social butterfly in the Old Horns. You literally knew everyone! I suppose credit goes to you and Helen for matchmaking me with my husband. Dean and I thank you both for that. We drifted apart and reunited again when our boys were born. You were always a natural mum, always caring for others. I admired how you coped being such a young mum. We always tried to stay in touch however life often would get in the way, so our friendship continued online. Seeing your posts, memes, messages felt as though we always saw each other. I know that whenever we would meet it would always feel that way. Your warmth, energy, passion and zest for life was infectious. Your fierce bravery inspired many. Luckily we did manage to have that brief reunion this summer. A chance meeting meant a hug in the foyer of a caravan park. It’s a hug I’ll never let go of. My heart hurts today. It will forevermore. Your gregarious personality lit up any room, so it was inevitable that you would impact on so many lives. Thank you for being my friend. You will always have a special place in my heart. ❤️ I will miss you Kathy. Lots of love Laura xxx
